"Genetics is not gender neutral in its impact. In this book, the author cites a wide range of biological and psychosocial examples that reveal its different impact on men and women, especially with regard to reproduction and caregiving. She examines the extent to which these differences are associated with gender injustice, arguing for positions that reduce inequality between the sexes."--Jacket.

As the essays in this volume show, conceptualizing dementia has always been a complex process. With contributions from noted professionals in psychiatry, neurology, molecular biology, sociology, history, ethics, and health policy, Concepts of Alzheimer Disease looks at the ways in which Alzheimer disease has been defined in various historical and cultural contexts.

This book gives an overview of the potential and the practical details that need to be resolved to make human germline engineering possible. Chapters present the ethical and social concerns and implications of the fast-approaching capability to alter the human germline and take an active role in the future evolution of the species.

(Bron: covertekst)
